2” Styrofoam Brand Insulation is probably the most
specified rigid insulation material for use under
residential concrete slabs with hydronic heat. The
material has an R-value of 10 and when used under a heated
slab, it forces the heat generated to remain in the slab
or to dissipate upward into the living space above instead
of being lost into the ground below the slab.
